Peter Hughes' passion for adventure, exploration and learning about new cultures has taken him to all parts of the globe as a freelance photographer, tour operator, guide and photo workshop instructor.

Originally from Northern New Mexico, Peter worked as a freelance photographer in the Southwestern USA, and exhibited his art in museums and galleries in Santa Fe and Taos, New Mexico from 1985 to 1995.

Peter moved to Central America in 1995 and created the Maya Odyssey Tour based out of the village of Copàn Ruinas, Honduras. Peter led archeology, nature and living culture, travel photo workshops while photographing extensively throughout Mesoamerica for over ten years. As founder of Artstock Honduras, he photographed the covers and content for the country's official bilingual guide Honduras Tips, www.hondurastips.honduras.com, and provided images for the United Nations Development Program, The Honduran Institute of Anthropology and History, environmental conservation groups, The Honduran Institute of Tourism and major hotels and destination eco-lodges in Central America. His commercial advertising photography in the region focused on promoting sustainable tourism, today known as Geo Tourism, www.honduras.com/tourism/photos/.

In June of 2005, Peter returned to the USA where he became the Lead Photographer/Digital Specialist at The Center for Creative Photography (CCP) at the University of Arizona for three years, www.creativephotography.org. Since October of 2005, Peter has been teaching film and digital photography at Pima Community College in Tucson. In 2007 Peter collaborated with Anthropologist and Writer Susan Lobo documenting the historic Vine King Neighborhood in Tucson for "Roots and Flowers" published in April 2008. In September 2008 Artstock Photo began leading photo field-trips & workshops in Tucson AZ, the Sonoran Desert and throughout the Southwest.

When not teaching or leading photography field-trips, Peter spends his time exploring and growing his own photo stock archive of travel, nature, and cultural photography. Peter's images have been featured in Grupo Oceano's "Enciclopedia de Honduras 2000", Outside Magazine, Mundo Maya, Islands Magazine, Conde Nast Traveler, the UNDP's "24 Horas en Honduras" as well as other publications.
